intermittent but the connection was not enough to update my website. I will be posting another
update including about the hurricane. Here in Sampaguita we got more wind than rain and the wind
was really not that much maybe a gust up to 40 mph and that was about it.

About our bible study
We started our third week and the awareness to Jesus has been great!
Doing mission work here in the Philippines was one of my hallmark plans and it never really came to
fruition until last month. Teaching children about God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and prayer was
something I always wanted to do. However the language barrier with children is an issue. We have
volunteers that teach the classes and it works out good
It was never really explained how our bible study works.I received some e-mails with questions and
concerns about our bible study.
Some concerns raised in an e-mail
“My only concern might be is this preacher using you and your good work to gain converts to his
teachings, This may cause some problems in families and you will loose credibility with some
people. The red flags to watch for are is this teacher telling you what's wrong with your beliefs and
what's correct about mine. Are you lost forever if you don't believe my interpretation of scripture.
There are many Christian religions and they for the most part believe in the fundamentals of the
bible but It's a matter on interpolation.
When you study scripture you do it for one reason, that is to grow in Christ not try to change
someone's belief to what you think is correct. If you study the word rely on the Holy Spirit to work in
you. Too many preachers feel they are so right in defining the word that they are more concerned
with wining a convert then seeing someone grow in their belief" For ALL have sinned and come
short of the glory of God" Call sin sin but no one person knows all the answers.”
There is some good advice here. Right now we have volunteers who run the bible study and not a
preacher. Our bible study (if you can even call it a study) is light in content considering the ages are
2 years old to 13 years old. The younger children color pictures, usually an angel or shepherded,
something biblical. While the young children color pictures the instructor reads a story from the bible.
Some of the recent stories include Joanna and the wale, Jesus helping the man with leprosy and
Jesus feeding 5,000 people. There has never been any mention of any denomination or specific
beliefs. This study is very light in content, it more about Jesus and prayer. We normally say three
prayers, before class, before eating, and after eating. So for me to use the term “bible study” is an
overstatement. The older kids work on memory verses and take a quiz every three days about the
stories. We also sing songs and other fun stuff. If these were older individuals then I am sure we
would cover beliefs and such but this is almost like a kindergarten with a splash of middle school. It
is mostly about having fun, hearing about Jesus and prayer.
We don’t have any non believers in the feeding program; in fact they are all catholic. These children
have also attended a bible study at a Baptist church about 100 yards away. They go every Saturday
in the summer and it is also a feeding too. The church keeps it light and don’t push their agenda.
They recognize that kids are kids and the best bet is to get children interested in Jesus and church.
You can’t really debate how many levels to heaven there are with the kids. When it comes to kids
teaching the fundamentals Jesus, fellowship, and prayer are central to what we do.
